What maintenance does a Quooker require?
In soft water areas, the internal HiTAC® water filter will usually require changing ca every 3-5 years. The filter can be ordered from our service department and comes with step-by-step instructions to allow you to change it yourself. If you prefer, we can also arrange for one of our engineers to change the filter for you.
In hard water areas, limescale can be managed in one of three ways:
1. Periodic servicing of the Quooker by yourself – this includes cleaning the tap nozzle (aerator) at the tip of the spout by unscrewing it and soaking it in a vinegar/water solution. Depending on the hardness of the water, limescale should also be cleaned from the tank about once a year. This is done by opening the tank cover and rinsing out the scale from the tank. A cleaning kit and instructions are available on request.
2. The servicing can also be done by one of our engineers.
3. You can install a descaling system in front of the Quooker that can reduce the amount of scale in the water. It is important that you choose a system that does not remove all the minerals from the water, leave excess salt behind or reduce the pH-value of the water below 7 as the water will become corrosive otherwise. Also, the ideal water pressure for the Quooker is 2-3 bar and the filter should not reduce the pressure below this level.
